Facial Acupuncture Rejuvenation: Amarillo Chiropractic Office Staff Explains
Facial Acupuncture Rejuvenation is natural and non-surgical. It’s a wonderful way of turning the years back through natural means rather than more expensive and riskier treatments. When applied in the correct areas and combined with other techniques, this treatment can literally erase years.
Here’s how Cosmetic Acupuncture works.
Acupuncture has been clinically shown to increase blood circulation throughout the body. Acupuncture is evidence-based for chronic pain, headaches, migraines, stress, and tension. However, it is becoming common as a treatment for wrinkles, age spots, and fine and deep lines due to aging and sun exposure.
Even though the needles used for cosmetic acupuncture or smaller than human hair, when they are inserted into the face, they affect collagen and elastin production which can help to tone skin.
Collagen is naturally produced by our bodies and is mostly responsible for the resilience of our skin. Elastin maintains the elasticity of our skin overall. Age and sun exposure can decrease the production of collagen and elastin. Acupuncture simply aids the body’s natural production of these when placed at certain points. The needles also help to re-educate the facial muscles back to their original placement so that the face will look more useful and lifted.
What about Botox?
Botox mostly works on wrinkles such as smile lines and frown lines. It is not used to treat aging or sun exposure wrinkles. Botox puts you at risk of facial paralysis as well as eyelid droop. Botox results are very temporary and, as with other drugs, the more Botox treatments you receive, the more Botox you need to achieve the same effect.
Botox costs between $600 and $1,000 depending on the size of the treatment area and needs to be repeated every 3 to 4 months. Botox makes natural movements of the face much more difficult and awkward.
But what if you already undergo Botox?
Cosmetic acupuncture, believe it or not, is actually recommended for those who have had Botox treatments. Facial Acupuncture Rejuvenation can help lengthen the duration of the effect of Botox treatments and people say they only need to update their Botox approximately yearly as opposed to every 3 to 4 months!
If I had a facelift, does facial acupuncture rejuvenation still makes sense?
Yes, it does. Facial glow, blood circulation, and things like the stimulation of collagen and elastin are not things that a facelift provides for you. In addition, you will still have eventual degradation of facelift results. Facial Acupuncture Rejuvenation can help prevent other surgeries in the future.
Getting cosmetic acupuncture rather than other cosmetic procedures makes sense because the total cost of a series of treatments can be closer to $1000 versus many thousands of dollars. There are little to no risks, there are little to no side effects, there is no recovery time whatsoever, there are no injections or toxins, and you are still able to move your face naturally while continuing to look like yourself.
What kind of research is there?
A research paper from 2013 was published in Evidence-Based Complementary Alternative Medicine. It showed that a significant improvement after facial cosmetic acupuncture treatment was seen according to their topography criteria, which was their means of evaluating the size of the wrinkles before and after treatment.
A research paper from 1996 was published in the International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture. There were 300 patients treated with cosmetic acupuncture. 98% of the participants have significant results with only one course of treatment. The research paper noted the following results: the skin became more delicate, there was a better elasticity, wrinkles were lessened, there was a brighter or healthier complexion, and the overall rejuvenation was not seen only in the face.
Discussion on the common benefits of facial acupuncture rejuvenation
Facial acupuncture rejuvenation can make 5 to 15 years disappear from your face. It can make fine lines vanish, lessen the deeper wrinkles, it can help to lift the eyelids while lessening double chins. Other commonly seen side effects are skin moisturizing, increase of local blood circulation, increase collagen, increased muscle tone, and reduction of stress.
Your results will not be dramatic like some of the invasive procedures provide, however it will make you look younger and healthier with a noticeable glow gradually with little to no side effects.
How long does treatment last?
A typical course of treatment here at Creek Stone would last 20 treatments over a 10 week period. Results are commonly seen after just a few sessions but a full course is more durable and noticeable. Each session lasts approximately one hour. After completion of the treatment, maintenance sessions prolong the results. Maintenance sessions are commonly done monthly for 2 to 3 months and then about four times a year from thereon. For more difficult wrinkles and lines, the patient may need to repeat another course of treatment for optimal results.
The effects of facial acupuncture rejuvenation can last for 3 to 5 years when the maintenance is kept up with. Keep in mind that everyone is different, however, patients commonly require maintenance treatments approximately once per month or four times a year.
Are there conditions that keep people from being able to use this service?
Yes, the following conditions are contraindications:
• Hemophiliacs
• Pacemakers
• Uncontrolled high blood pressure
• Diabetes
• Severe migraines in the last three months

Your face is easily the most recognizable part of your body. A big part of personal communication is through our expressions. Have you noticed just a little too many years creeping into the lines of your face lately but you’re in no hurry to have expensive procedures performed or expensive toxins injected into your face?
Acupuncture has traditionally been used to treat chronic pain, stress and tension, and headaches and migraines. In the last 10-20 years, people are learning more and more that acupuncture can aid in the reduction of wrinkles. In fact, most actually PREFER a natural treatment like acupuncture instead of potentially toxic treatments like Botox or Restalyne. Cosmetic acupuncture is nonsurgical and takes about an hour for each treatment. Each treatment commonly uses acupuncture but also facial massage techniques. The needles for facial rejuvenation are even smaller than regular acupuncture needles so pain isn’t part of the process. In fact, the needles are smaller than a human hair.
Acupuncture facial rejuvenation stimulates collagen growth. Treatments are virtually painless and people commonly say that they are deeply relaxing. The treatment is used along the wrinkles and lines of the face to stimulate the areas to produce collagen and elastin. The results can be astonishing. After just the first treatment, many already notice a glow to the face. The collagen production really seems to start kicking in after the 7th or 8th session though. Cosmetic acupuncture is a wonderful option for women and men that don’t want the risks associated with surgical facelifts. This natural procedure has been clinically shown to make the fine lines in the face vanish, decrease sagginess, lessen the deeper lines, lift eyelids, and lessen age spots.
If you think about it, a traditional facelift requires general anesthesia as well as weeks of recovery. In addition, it costs between $10,000 and $100,000. Not to mention spending at least one night in the hospital if not more.
Another common option is Botox injections. Botox temporarily removes wrinkles and lines and commonly costs between $300 And $1000. The total cost will depend on how many areas are to be treated. Botox also has to be repeated every six months. It’s also important to remember that Botox is commonly associated with the inability to move the muscles of the face normally and naturally making it more obvious.
The other common treatment is Restylane injections. This is also temporary and made of a type of acid that occurs naturally in the body. It can cost between $500 and several thousand dollars. Again, it depends on the size of the treatment area. Results with this treatment also only last about six months and have to be repeated. Restylane also carries its own set of side effects that include redness, bruising, itching, and patients with allergies may not be able to use it.
Three groupings of women and men between the ages of 20 to 70 benefit from these treatments:
Women and men in their 30’s and 40’s who are looking to prevent the early onset of wrinkles.
Women and men in their 40’s and 50’s who are looking to minimize the appearance of fine to medium lines and maintain a youthful glow to the skin.
Women and men in their 60’s and 70’s who are looking for an overall facial rejuvenation effect that will soften the appearance of deep wrinkles, minimize the dull complexion, and bring back the glow that has been lost over the years.
There is clear research that shows the effectiveness of Cosmetic Acupuncture and we are excited to be able to offer people in Amarillo this clinically proven and valuable service.
