No Charge For Visits At Creek Stone For VETERANS!
Veterans earned it - make sure you get the care you deserve
Many veterans, as a result of their time in service to our country, are struggling with long-term, chronic pain. Unfortunately, not all veterans are aware of their options. In addition, several recent changes have combined affecting our veterans profoundly, and have made it a time when it's better than ever to be treated with us at Creek Stone.
The first big change affecting our veterans was the recognition of the opioid crisis. Once it became glaringly apparent that people were getting addicted and dying from opioid use and abuse, the VA all but shut down opioid prescriptions for our veterans. As a result, not only did veterans have to go on the journey of getting off of the pain meds, but they also had to figure out alternative ways of treating their pain. The opioids went away but the pain did not. Understandably, this left many veterans more than frustrated.
Then reports started to surface about the suicide rate of our veteran and military population. For example, veterans are 57% more likely to commit suicide than those that did not serve. That's eye-opening at minimum. It's frightening and it's a call for better, safer, and more effective means of treating this amazing population of patients.
Fortunately, the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) released a groundbreaking research paper in 2018. It was called "Effect of Usual Medical Care Plus Chiropractic Care vs Usual Medical Care Alone on Pain and Disability Among US Service Members With Low Back Pain" and it found, "Chiropractic care, when added to usual medical care, resulted in moderate short-term improvements in low back pain intensity and disability in active-duty military personnel. This trial provides additional support for the inclusion of chiropractic care as a component of multidisciplinary health care for low back pain, as currently recommended in existing guidelines."
That was on top of a huge series in the historic medical journal The Lancet that said spinal manipulative therapy and exercise were effective ways of controlling back pain.
This was on the back of the world's largest medical group, The American College Of Physicians, recommending spinal manipulative therapy, exercise, cold laser, and acupuncture, among other treatments for back pain.
All of the mounting evidence and recommendations from the world's healthcare leaders culminated in the VA changing course and changing policies. The VA now refers, AND PAYS FOR, veterans to come to our clinic for chiropractic care, exercise recommendations, massage, and acupuncture. All right here at Creek Stone Integrated Medical under one roof with a group of providers working together to help our veterans control pain and sometimes get out of pain completely.
Our veterans commonly tell us that since beginning care with us here at Creek Stone they notice:
1. They get better sleep
2. They don't seem so stressed
3. They are able to be more active without being under a fog of medication
4. They are able to be more involved with their family and family activities
5. They just feel better physically and mentally
6. They are more confident about their future for the first time in a long time
These are big things for men and women that have been struggling for years. That's what we do though and we are so happy to play a part in helping these veterans in Amarillo turn their lives around for the better; without surgeries, spinal implants, burning nerves, or other more invasive pain management procedures.
The VA pays for all treatment so there is no money required from the veterans. That's the best news of all. Here's the catch though, if you are a veteran or a loved one, be sure you understand that the veteran must talk to their VA provider and THEY MUST REQUEST Creek Stone Integrated Medical SPECIFICALLY if they want to be able to see us and have all of the services in one place under one roof.
Otherwise, they will get sent randomly to other clinics and there is no other clinic in the Texas Panhandle offering all of the services that are offered right here at Creek Stone.
So, if you are a veteran or you love and care for a veteran, get with the VA provider and ask to be seen at Creek Stone Integrated Medical and we'll get you on the schedule just as quickly as we can. If you have any questions, contact our staff at 806-355-3000 and we'll be happy to help you with the process.
