Amarillo Chiropractic Office Offers Tui Na Massage: A Brief Overview

What Is Tui-na:

Tui-na is an East Asian healing technique that has been used in China for 2,000 years. The Chinese believe that all human life depends on “chi”, the vital life energy of the body. Chi is a dynamic force promoting growth, keeping the organs functioning properly, and is closely related to metabolism. In the simplest terms, it is believed that disease is a disruption of the flow of energy in the body.

Acupoints are specific sites distributed throughout the body. Tui-na therapy manipulates these points to restore the flow of energy. Tui-na therapy is effective for pain relief, musculoskeletal problems, and respiratory and digestive disorders. This method helps to relieve fatigue, restore energy, and strengthen one’s ability to deal with emotional disturbances such as stress.

Tui-na is an external therapy which combines the art of massage, acupressure, and various other forms of body manipulation. Tui-na focuses on applying pressure to specific points and groups of muscles or nerves to remove blockages. Removing these blockages restores the balance in the body, leading to improved health and vitality.

Long-term experience has shown that, when stimulated, these specific points have a therapeutic effect on a variety of disorders.

Acupuncture provides this stimulation using needles while Tui-na practitioners, utilize their hands to produce the same or similar effects. Obviously, for those afraid of needles but still wanting to try acupuncture, Tui-na is definitely for you!

Here is a Case Study from 2014 on Tui-na treatment for low back pain:
