Diabetic Neuropathy &  Pain - A New Option!

A recent research paper shows the effectiveness of treating Diabetic Neuropathic Pain

We have talked quite a bit here in the last year about Platelet Rich Plasma, also known as PRP, and its amazing effectiveness for pain in general, joint pain, and much more. However, a more recent research paper (1) just came onto our radar that shows PRP's impressive effectiveness for Diabetic Neuropathic pain!

We are really excited to share this with you as we know so many diabetics are suffering from this condition. They've tried everything from different shoes and laser boots to pain management and medications.

Now, there's an incredibly safe and effective option that it looks like can make a big difference for these patients.

Without talking about boring research, let me just say that this research project was a randomized controlled trial and that type of project is toward the top of the research pyramid. Which means it's pretty reliable information! Which means what I am about to tell you is reliable.

The group wanted to see how effective PRP could be for pain and numbness in diabetic neuropathy. With that as their goal, they set off testing it in the Pain Clinic and Rheumatology and Rehabilitation Departments at Assiut University Hospital. They used 60 adults with Type II diabetes who all had associated neuropathy for six months or more.

They were split into two groups. One group had medical care. The other group had medical care with PRP added. The researchers checked in with the patients at the 1-month mark, the 3-month mark, and the 6-month mark to ask them and test them on their pain and numbness symptoms.

What they found on pain and numbness for diabetic neuropathy

They noticed that significant improvement was recorded by the patients for pain and numbness!! They concluded that PRP injection is indeed a significantly effective way to improve and alleviate diabetic neuropathy pain and numbness and improve or enhance the peripheral nerve function in the areas where the patients had the complaints.
