Fibromyalgia is a disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory, and mood issues. Researchers believe that fibromyalgia amplifies painful sensations by affecting the way your brain processes pain signals. – Defined by the Mayo Clinic.
There is also gathering information that Fibromyalgia may be part of a larger, more global and systemic, chronic pain syndrome disorder. This is when the nervous system becomes more sensitive and is on 'high alert' to any pain stimulus.
While there is no cure for fibromyalgia, there are certain medications and therapies that are used to help manage the pain. Such therapies which include acupuncture, chiropractic, hydro-therapies, and massage are all proven treatments to be able to help manage the pain that comes with fibromyalgia.
In addition, visiting a chiropractor in Amarillo can be beneficial in helping to decrease the irritation of an overall sensitive nervous system. Of course, we suggest Amarillo chiropractor, Dr. Jeff Williams here at Creek Stone Integrated Care. https://www.amarillochiropractor.com
Every case with fibromyalgia has to be treated differently. While some people experience and associate pain at all different levels and tolerance, one person's condition may be more advanced or intensified by other medical conditions, also known as co-morbidities. With this in mind, while treating Fibromyalgia with therapy; what works for one person may not work for another.
If you suffer from fibromyalgia and feel like nothing helps, or if something actually makes it much worse, pursue other therapy options and don’t give up. Communicate well with your therapists to address your concerns. That way you can find something that will work for you. With having so many therapies available to you, we always suggest doing research on all of them and select a couple to try and if that doesn’t work, move on to the next therapies.
Over the years we have seen many different degrees of this disease. And treating this is difficult but after having patients and clients try different things, we do find something that does help alleviate the pain or manage their symptoms and pain.
It’s all about the quality of life, and being in pain decreases this quality. But with certain things like Acupuncture, Chiropractic, and Massage you can feel better and have a better quality of life living with less pain.
If you are leaning towards massage for this; listen to your body cause certain techniques can set off these pain sensors. There are several different modalities that are proven to help such as Myofascial release, Acupressure, Cupping Therapy, and many more.
Be sure to find a therapist that really understands this condition.
