laser therapy

I have been working at Creek Stone Integrated Care as a Patient Coordinator for just under a year now. I work with patients of all kinds having lots of different issues from chronic pain, stress and tension, migraines, or those who just love to take care of their bodies with chiropractic maintenance care.

I truly care about the wellness of each and every person that walks through our front door. I look at it as quite the privilege that I am able to help people heal every day.

While Creek Stone has many therapies to offer to help you feel better, my all time FAVORITE that we have is called Cold Laser Therapy. It’s a thing of magic! Well, that’s not actually true, no magic involved. Although, it IS a pretty miraculous piece of equipment that has the power to literally speed up your body’s ability to heal.

Before I get into what I’ve seen the Cold Laser do, let’s go over a short history shall we?

We have to thank the great Albert Einstein for originally inventing lasers in the first place. His theory of Light Amplification through Stimulated Emission of Radar is where the word LASER comes from. However it wasn’t until a few years later (1967) that Dr. Andre Mester thought to apply what was known about lasers to medicine and voila! We had the birth of low level laser therapy.

There are 4 classifications of lasers according to the FDA.

• Class 4- Surgical Lasers: Used to cut, coagulate, and vaporize skin tissue.

• Class 3B- Non-Surgical Lasers: Used to heal superficial wounds and conditions.

• Class 3A- Low Level Lasers: Used to penetrate deep into tissue and joints for healing purposes.

The Cold Laser we use is from class 3A/B.It has a multitude of uses which I get to utilize every day at work. The FDA has also outlined what this laser is approved to relieve, which are the following conditions:

• Muscle and joint pain

• Stiffness associated with arthritis

• Pain associated with muscle spasms

• Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

• Neck pain

• Low back pain

• Wound healing

Now if you’re anything like me and this is the first time you’ve heard of Cold Laser you may find yourself asking “how on earth could a laser do that much?” Well let me tell you, because it’s fascinating! While it is accurate to say that cold laser works at a cellular level, leaving it there just does not do it any justice. What happens at the cellular level during cold laser therapy is pretty astounding.

Long story short, the cold laser makes you feel better fast.

I have seen cold laser eliminate the pain that comes with chronic migraines, sprains, strains, plantar facsitis, whiplash, and carpal tunnel syndrome. The possibilities seem endless with this therapy and it has been pretty cool to have a front row seat to see it in action.

The fact is, if you have pain, cold laser, in most cases, can help you.

There is a catch however. The only downside to cold laser is that there are some who would not benefit from this therapy. With all this cellular action happening, anyone who has a history of cancer should not do cold laser therapy.

I will also add that with many of the conditions I have seen cold laser play a hand in healing, it was not done all by itself. Like I mentioned before, we offer many therapies and rehab that help you feel better and when combined- chronic pain, stress and tension, headaches and many other conditions can be controlled or better yet, elim
